As banal as it may sound, the issue is important considering the comfort of both the artist and the person getting tattooed! The choice of clothing is important, especially when tattooing intimate or hard-to-reach areas that are not typically exposed in everyday attire.
The neck theoretically isn't considered a hard-to-reach area, yet it's worth considering the comfort needed for several hours of face-to-face work with the tattoo artist! We also recommend wearing a deeper or boat neckline for added comfort.
When tattooing the arm, tank tops or sleeveless shirts are suitable. For tattooing the chest, tube tops are excellent choices. This option allows for flexibility; the tube top can be lowered as needed, and if the design extends deeply, the tattoo artist will provide patches to cover the nipples.
The breastbone is a more challenging area. Often, a deeply cut top, a bra, or even a loosely unbuttoned shirt will suffice.
For example, on the side, under the arm - it's best to wear loose tops that can easily be rolled up and taped, and if sleeves need to be removed, it allows for covering them comfortably.
A back tattoo requires a shirt that exposes the back well. A button-up shirt worn backward works perfectly! If the design extends low, it's a good idea to consider wearing pants with an elastic waistband.
Tattooing on the buttocks, hips, or thighs requires unrestricted access to the tattooed area. Depending on the location, properly cut underwear will certainly serve its purpose!
